The Speaker's House
A Founding Father's Home in Your Backyard
The Speaker's House, opening in April 2026 after a 25 year, community-led restoration effort, was the home of Frederick and Catharine Muhlenberg and their family from 1781 to 1803. Frederick Muhlenberg was a pivotal figure in the founding of the United States and in 1789, he became the first Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Perkiomen Trail
Miles of Trail Connecting Parks and Historic Sites
The Perkiomen Trail follows the Perkiomen Creek, a recognized Pennsylvania Water Trail, from Oaks to Green Lane. The trail provides easy access to historic houses, open spaces, restaurants, and shopping. Trail heads are located in Oaks, Collegeville, Schwenksville, Spring Mount, and Green Lane.
