The Montgomery Cemetery is the final resting place for 5,000 individuals – generals, soldiers and citizens alike. Bring your walking shoes and join the Historical Society of Montgomery County this October for an educational and entertaining afternoon featuring Bruce and Karin Stocking who will return with their original “Grave Tales” tour of Montgomery Cemetery. The Stockings are the founders of the W. S. Hancock Society. Their talk and tour will highlight funeral practices of the past, headstone symbolism, stories to ignite your imagination about the notable people interred at Montgomery Cemetery.
The event will be augmented with artifacts from the Historical Society. Light snacks and refreshments will be available. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the cemetery gatehouse.
